Troy PD name suspect in stolen car pursuit investigation
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Troy Police Department released the suspect's name who allegedly fled from the police in a stolen car. Anthony Bonaparte, 33, of Troy, faces many charges.
Charges
- Criminal possession of stolen property (motor vehicle)
- Unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
- Reckless driving
- Fail to comply with a lawful order
- Unlicensed operator
- Vehicle and traffic law violations
Police reported finding a car in Troy on Saturday that was reported stolen on Friday night and when they tried to stop it, they say the driver fled, leading to a pursuit. The pursuit took Troy Police from Lansingburgh into Waterford, where the suspect struck a metal sign on Division Street, stopping the car.
When the Troy Police Officer, now identified as Anthony Gullo, exited the patrol vehicle, he lost his footing and unintentionally discharged his weapon, per Troy Police. Both Bonaparte and Gullo were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Police said Bonaparte had a lip injury.
Both the officer and the suspect have been discharged from the hospital. Bonaparte was arraigned in Troy City Court.
