Tottenham make decision on Ange Postecoglou sacking after Leicester defeat
According to Alasdair Gold, the Tottenham hierarchy have reportedly come to a decision on the future of Ange Postecoglou and the business they will do in the final week of the transfer window.
Is Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham position untenable?
It is fair to say that no other manager in the Daniel Levy era would have survived a sustained run of poor form like the one Ange Postecoglou is overseeing at the moment.
Tottenham are now in very real danger of being sucked into a relegation battle, with the Australian coach looking like he is running out of ideas.
While Postecoglou will point to the club’s bloated injury list, many will feel that he still should be getting more out of the players available to him than he has.
The 59-year-old himself admitted after seeing his side lose to the Foxes at home that “a fair chunk of people” will want to see him sacked.
Alasdair Gold reveals what Tottenham’s plan is
However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold says that despite the latest upset against Leicester, Tottenham will not sack Ange Postecoglou yet.
The journalist says Tottenham have decided that they are sticking with their head coach for now as they are sensitive to the fact that the 59-year-old is dealing with a major injury crisis.
Gold adds that Spurs will ‘try to sign at least one player’ before the transfer window shuts on February 3 in order to help out Postecoglou.
Transfer inactivity is a clear sign that Postecoglou is not trusted
The fact that Spurs have dragged their feet in bringing in new signings is clear proof that the decision-makers at the club no longer fully trust Postecoglou.
They are evidently hesitant to spend more on the players he wants as they are not sure if he will be in the job for too much longer. One would not be surprised if the club prioritises some late loan signings rather than permanent deals just to reduce the risk.
