Super Bowl LIX Opening Line: Oddsmakers Deem Favorite For Title
It’ll be déjà vu as the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will meet again for the second time in three years, this time in Super Bowl LIX.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, and Jalen Hurts and the Eagles got the job done Sunday in their respective conference title matchups, setting up a rematch. During their first meeting in Super Bowl LVII, Kansas City edged out Philadelphia with a 38-35 win to spark the first of its back-to-back championship run and position the Chiefs for a chance to become the NFL’s first team to ever three-peat — in the Super Bowl era (since 1966).
While Kansas City, Philadelphia and Kendrick Lamar will spend the next two weeks preparing until they cross paths in New Orleans, the oddsmakers have already spoken. Shortly after Mahomes, the Chiefs and all of Kansas City began celebrating at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, the favorite for Super Bowl LIX was revealed.

The Chiefs are 1.5-point favorites to defeat the Eagles, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, and can make history by ruling the league for a third consecutive year.
Mahomes surpassed legendary quarterback Joe Montana after defeating the Bills, 32-29, and notched the second-most playoff wins (17) in NFL history — he’s only second to Tom Brady (35). Hurts, meanwhile, will seek redemption for the City of Brotherly Love as the Eagles seek out their first Lombardi Trophy since defeating the Patriots in Super Bowl LII with Nick Foles at quarterback.
Hurts, this go-around, dodged a red-hot rookie Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders with a dominant 55-23 beatdown at Lincoln Financial Field to get the party in Philadelphia started. The job isn’t done yet, however, as Hurts will seek his first ring and Philadelphia’s fifth title while Mahomes is aiming to hoist his fourth Lombardi trophy and the fifth in Kansas City’s franchise history.
