'It had to be done': Democratic lawmaker spills about 'heated exchange' with Trump
Rep. Brad Sherman, a California Democrat, said on Sunday that his choice to stand up to President Donald Trump "face to face" had to happen.
When Trump held an event in California to address the catastrophic wildfires that destroyed historic neighborhoods in Los Angeles, Sherman called him out over his party's repeated threats to withhold or condition disaster relief.
Sherman appeared on MSNBC over the weekend, where he discussed the interaction.

"During a roundtable, you and the president had a heated exchange," the host said, before asking Sherman more about it.
"It had to be done, notwithstanding the fact that he selected the crowd," he said. "And he can talk as long as he wants. I have to share my time with, I had a dozen colleagues there, but he's just plain wrong on so many fronts."
