Timothee Chalamet Jokes About Losing at Awards Shows, Reveals What He's Singing on 'SNL' During Opening Monologue
Timothee Chalamet kicked off the January 25 episode of Saturday Night Live by poking fun at himself for losing at awards shows.
The 29-year-old actor just made history by scoring his second Best Actor nomination at the 2025 Oscars for his performance in A Complete Unknown.
However, while opening the popular late-night show, he joked about losing other big awards to his competition. He even attempted to get a chance to finally deliver an acceptance speech. However, it didn’t quite go as he planned…

“It’s an enormous honor going to these awards shows. It’s such a great experience, but I just keep losing and each time it gets harder to pretend it doesn’t sting,” Timothee said before playing back footage of him losing at other awards shows over the years.
After asking the audience to let him deliver an acceptance speech that he’s been holding onto for a while, Timothee set the scene before being upstaged by Kenan Thompson.
If you didn’t know, Timothee is pulling double duty as the host and musical guest tonight. During the monologue, he confirmed that he’d be playing his personal favorite songs by Bob Dylan after bringing him in A Complete Unknown.
This is his first time coming on the show specifically to sing. However, music has played a huge role in some of his biggest skits when he’s hosted in the past.
