SZA to join Kendrick Lamar for Super Bowl LIX halftime show
(KTLA) – Kendrick Lamar is bringing at least one guest to the Big Easy for this year's Super Bowl halftime show.
Apple Music released a teaser trailer on Thursday showing the Compton native on the gridiron, assessing the field before the big game while he's talking to someone on the phone.
As he tells the person on the phone that he's considering adding a guest, singer SZA runs up from behind to pour Gatorade on him.
"Catch @kendricklamar with guest @sza. #AppleMusic Halftime #SBLIX," Apple Music posted on social media.
SZA used to be the "Not Like Us" rapper's labelmate on Top Dawg Entertainment. She appeared on Lamar's recent album “GNX” and was featured on the songs “Gloria” and “Luther." SZA herself released her album "Lana" this past December. It's the deluxe version of her 2022 album "SOS."
The two have several collaborations together like the Oscar-nominated “All the Stars” and “Doves in the Wind.”
Later this year, the pair will go on tour together for the Grand National Tour. The 19-city North American tour kicks off on April 19 in Minneapolis. It will stop in Los Angeles for two nights at SoFi Stadium on May 21 and 23.
Super Bowl LIX takes place on Feb. 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Fox.
