Bronx Zoo offers opportunity to meet penguins, giraffes, and other wild animals
BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – Did you know that The Bronx Zoo offers a unique opportunity to meet wild animals up close?
Their Wild Encounters programs allow New Yorkers and tourists to personally meet with animals and talk to the zoo keepers about their experience working with the zoo’s animals.
“The Bronx Zoo Wild Encounters allows guests to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Bronx Zoo. Our animal experts introduce a variety of species to guests in private or semi-private groups, said Mary Dixon, Senior Vice President of Communications at the Wildlife Conservation Society. “Wild Encounters is a great way to meet amazing animals and learn about our extraordinary work from our dedicated keepers.
During a Wild Encounter at the zoo, guests can look forward to meeting a diverse range of animals, from penguins and giraffes to camels and even cheetahs, shared Kira Babuska, a supervisor who manages the Wild Encounters at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo.
Babuska also noted that a tremendous first-time encounter for people is the ‘keepers choice,’ where guests can meet at least three animals. This program allows other animal lovers to see the staff's bond with the animals at the zoo.
How much do the Bronx Zoo Wild Encounters cost?
- The programs start at $29.95, but the cost may vary depending on whether the encounter is private or semi-private. For more information, click here.
