Nike Is Releasing Even More ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ Valentine’s Day Break-Up Sneakers
Between its Nike Sportswear retro offerings and Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan line, Nike, Inc. has a slew of Valentine’s Day-themed sneakers in the works for February. One such pair is a Nike Air Max 1 which takes a decidedly opposite approach to the holiday’s usual sentiments.
Rather than celebrating relationships, this year’s Valentine’s Day Air Max 1 embraces break-ups and being single. First seen in a metallic pink colorway during December’s SNKRS Showcase preview, the shiny sneakers are inspired by mylar foil balloons. In addition to the all-pink pair that debuted during the SNKRS Showcase, the sneakers later surfaced in white, which revealed yet another detail: printed shoelaces that read “it’s not me, it’s you.”
Now, a third entry into the collection has emerged in black and pink. The color blocking of this pair echoes the white version with an all-black upper and Swoosh logos which alternate from metallic pink on the lateral to metallic red on the medial side. The laces come with removable balloon-shaped “NIKE” letters and the same printed shoelaces seen on the white and pink pairs.
A closer look at the laces for the pairs shows that the phrasing appears to alternate between “it’s not me, it’s you” and “it’s not you, it’s me.” Official product images for the white pair included laces which solely read “it’s not me, it’s you,” so it’s possible that multiple shoelaces will be included in the packaging — or that each phrase is printed on the opposing sides of the laces.
An official release date for the Nike Air Max 1 “Valentine’s Day” pack has not been confirmed on SNKRS, but readers can expect the shoes to arrive at retailers in early February.
