Audrey Hepburn’s Son Sean Revealed What He Thought About Ivanka Trump’s Inaugural Ball Gown Tribute
If you saw President Donald Trump’s inaugural ball, then chances are you saw his daughter Ivanka Trump, and the controversial gown she wore. But if you didn’t see, let us tell you: she wore a custom Givenchy Haute Couture gown that was a recreation of an iconic gown. Any guesses? She wore a recreation of Audrey Hepburn’s floral ballgown from the 1954 film Sabrina. Fans immediately noticed and had so many question, one of which being, “How do Hepburn’s kids feel about this?”
While Hepburn passed away in 1993, her sons are alive and well. Her son Sean Ferrer even spoke about the dress moment to DailyMail. While many assumed he may be mad, he was actually happy about the moment. Or rather, instead of focusing on the backlash, he focused on the impact his late mother has on people.
“It is no wonder that growing up in a family that knew our mother as a household name she chose to draw inspiration from her, to seek the ultimate elegance and class reference, for an occasion such as this one – the inauguration and the 32nd anniversary of our mother’s passing and, most of all, Martin Luther King’s day,” he told DailyMail. “What a cocktail!”
He added, “Over the past 71 years her legacy has grown to become transgenerational and transnational. Her elegance, which has its roots in her inner beauty and spirit, is often a reference point, an anchor, for many celebrities, actresses and models in these times in which we appear to have somewhat lost our way.”
For those that don’t know, Hepburn welcomed two sons: one named Sean Hepburn Ferrer, born July 1960, with her ex-husband Mel Ferrer, and another son named Luca Dotti, born Feb 1970, with her second husband Andrea Dotti.
Sean welcomed three children of his own named Emma, 30, Santiago, 24, and Gregorio, 20. As for Luca, he welcomed two daughters whose names he’s kept from the public eye.
