Jet2 launches more flights to two Greek holiday hotspots next summer due to soaring demand
BRITS are battling January blues by booking their summer getaways forcing airlines to extend their summer season.
Greece is top of the list for summer holidays with the city of Kalamata and Chania on the island of Crete being hugely popular locations.

The move will see the summer season start earlier than ever before.
Jet2 flights to Kalamata and Chania will begin at the start of April as Brits look to get some sun months before summer.
Others may be looking to work on their tans for Easter.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays told GTP: “Kalamata and Crete (Chania) are enormously popular destinations, and we continue to see strong demand from customers and independent travel agents looking to book or travel earlier in the summer season or for Easter.
“As ever, we have reacted quickly to that demand by extending the Summer 26 seasons to Kalamata and Chania, providing customers with the holiday choices that they want.”
Jet2 flights from the UK to Chania will begin on April 3 and flights to Kalamata on April 5.
This extended summer season will benefit flyers departing from Manchester Airport and London Stansted.
There will also be more flights to the two islands over summer 2026 from Birmingham Airport, as well as Manchester and Stansted.
Jet2 is promising holidaymakers and independent travel agents many more options and flexibility in 2026.
Flyers departing from Birmingham currently see twice-weekly services to Chania from May to October 30.
With the new changes there will be additional flights on Fridays from April 3 to 24, 2026.
At Manchester Airport, Jet2 currently runs up to three weekly flights to Chania between May and October.
There are also up to two weekly flights to Kalamata from May to early November.
The summer 2026 extension will add twice weekly flights to Chania on Tuesdays and Fridays between April 3 and April 28, 2026, as well as extra flights on Sundays to Kalamata from April 5 to 26.
Meanwhile, Jet2 will add more flights to Chania on Tuesdays from April 7 to 28, 2026 as well as Sunday flights to Kalamata from April 5 to 26, 2026.
This will be in addition to the current schedule of up to three weekly flights to Chania between May and October and up to two weekly flights to Kalamata from May to November.
For those who don’t want to fly, The Sun previously reported on the four cruises on offer for the whole family including sailing the Greek Islands.
Marella Cruises will be running a trip sailing from Limassol in Cyprus on May 21.
It will call at Kusadasi, Turkey; Mykonos; Piraeus for Athens; Souda for Chania, Crete and Rhodes before returning to Limassol.
