Snow collapses Jeanerette patio cover
IBERIA PARISH, LA (KLFY) --- Snow damage is not a normal thing you would expect someone from south Louisiana to have to deal with, but one Jeanerette man experienced exactly that.
Herman Jones was at his house when the snowstorm came through. He says, after seeing the snow for just a few minutes. He went back inside. He then heard a loud noise and couldn't believe what actually happened."
"Boom. I thought it was a tree (that) fell or something. I came out here. It was that," said Jones.
About 10-inches of snow built up on jones's patio cover during the storm. The weight of the snow made the roof collapse, damaging his car and preventing him from being able to open his back door.
Jones said he "Couldnt believe it. I mean, it was amazing to see really what happened. You know, I didn't think it was going to come down with the snow hitting. You know, it been up there and didnt come down all during a hurricane times, you know, snowed only one that brought it down."
He reported the damages to the police but is still asking for help from anyone who can provide it.
"I'm just trying to get it torn down," he said. "I ain't worrying about putting nothing up. Just something and trying to get my car together."
