Colonie deputy chief of police to retire
LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The town of Colonie's deputy chief of police, Robert Winn, is set to retire, the police department announced on Thursday. The department will celebrate his retirement with a reception on Friday.
Winn served for the Colonie police for over 33 years. In addition to his role as deputy chief, he had also served as the department's public information officer for over a decade.
"Deputy Chief Winn has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, professionalism and unwavering commitment to our community," Colonie Police Chief Jay Gerace said in a press release. "His contributions to the department have been invaluable, and he will be deeply missed."
The Colonie Police Department will hold a celebration and formal walkout ceremony on Friday at 2 p.m. in the courtroom of the Public Safety Center at 312 Wolf Road in Latham. Winn will be presented with an American flag that has been flying over the department in his honor this week.
