EXCLUSIVE: First Look at Willy Chavarria’s Fall 2025 Adidas Collab — Including His ‘Sexiest’ Shoe Yet
Ahead of his fall/winter 2025 menswear show on Friday, New York-based designer Willy Chavarria was feeling great just days before his Paris debut.
The designer, who sat down with FN to give a sneak peek at his second collaboration with Adidas Originals, was most excited to talk about this season’s new shoe offering – one of his largest yet.
The centerpiece of the season is the Adidas Forum sneaker, Chavarria’s personal favorite. “The Forum is the sexiest of Adidas shoes, in my opinion,” the designer said. “It’s so hard and rugged. And our latest Adidas collection, is very, very aggressive and hard and tough.”
During the walkthrough, Chavarria highlighted several takes on the Adidas Forum – ranging from easy-to-wear models that have been slightly tweaked, to one that was made into a combat boot.
This collection of sneakers pays homage to the iconic 1980’s Adidas basketball silhouette and recontextualizes it into a range of six Forum models made of premium leather.
More specifically, the Forum range includes the Chavarria Forum Boot, the Chavarria Forum Boot Hi, the Chavarria Forum Combat Sneaker, the Chavarria Forum Low 84, the Chavarria Forum Hi 84 and the Chavarria Forum Heel sneaker.
Some of the unique design details seen on the shoes include gold “Chavarria” branding and a rose printed below the black tonal iconic Adidas 3 Stripes on the side, while other models feature the Adidas Trefoil motif on the side.
“We were really happy with the Jabbar collection last season, so we just wanted to take it bigger and fuller and harder this time,” Chavarria added. “So, this season, there’s a lot more extremity in this collection, which lends itself to more extremity in the footwear.”
But for Chavarria, his collaboration with Adidas just comes naturally. “The brand message of Adidas and what it stands for and how it touches culture, really brought us together,” the designer maintained. “And the idea of sports being the place where so many different types of people come together and there’s no judgment on the field, really resonates with me. So, I think it’s really kind of a nice merger.”
Sven Herrmann, senior director of product marketing of footwear and style global brands at Adidas Originals, couldn’t agree more. “Willy Chavarria’s brand purpose is so closely aligned with Adidas and resulted in a creative partnership that celebrated both brands and our commitment to inclusivity and self-expression,” Herrmann told FN exclusively. “I admire Willy for having such a keen eye to reimagine sportswear staples into culturally defining statement pieces that lean into his avant-garde design aesthetic. It was exciting to work alongside him for his Paris debut, as this collection combines streetwear with high fashion tailoring that challenges the norms of traditional style and design.”
As reported by FN on Wednesday, Chavarria is currently taking over Paris with a traveling activation featuring a classic red Chevy Impala. The vintage lowrider is cruising the streets of Paris on Friday, stopping at secret locations to distribute limited-edition Paris-exclusive Adidas Originals x Willy Chavarria merch in the lead-up to the designer’s runway show.
To commemorate the occasion, Chavarria will make a personal appearance for a meet-and-greet with fans and customers at the Adidas Originals flagship store on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 3 Rue des Rosiers.
Some of the shoes on offer in Paris include the Chavarria Jabbar Dress and Chavarria Jabbar sneaker, both introduced during NYFW in September. There shoes are also featured in three pony hair iterations – in zebra, leopard and tiger print – exclusive to Paris.
The pony hair editions have a special meaning for Chavarria. “They’re inspired by creepers from the ‘80s,” the designer noted. “I used to wear animal skin creepers like these all the time. And there are two that are like the pointed toe from last season, and there’s one that’s a more classic round toe.”
Looking ahead to fall 2025, though, the Adidas team couldn’t be happier with what they produced with Chavarria. “Going into the second season, our collaboration with Willy Chavarria builds on the excitement and momentum we ignited during New York Fashion Week,” Torben Schumacher, senior vice president and global general manager of Adidas Originals basketball and partnerships, told FN. “What sets it apart is the clear and cohesive vision—each piece draws from archive-inspired details and cutlines influenced by our deep-rooted history in sport, from basketball to soccer.”
Schumacher added, “Willy’s ability to capture the cultural zeitgeist, combined with his mastery of tailoring and talent for evoking emotion through inventive silhouettes and materials, elevates this collection to something entirely new and exciting.”
