Vees sign Danish forward Tristan Petersen
Penticton, B.C. – The Penticton Vees have signed Danish forward Tristan Petersen (’06), the team announced Monday.
“Tristan is another forward that brings size and speed to our lineup, both attributes which we know are invaluable come playoff time. Signing three quality players in the past week will have us ready for the final push before playoffs,” commented Vees’ President, General Manager, and Head Coach Fred Harbinson.
Petersen, 18, comes to Penticton after spending the past two seasons with the Malmo Redhawks in the Swedish J20 Nationell. The 6’4, 192-pound winger had 10 points (7G, 3A) in 27 games this season with Malmo, as he was ninth in team scoring. Last season, the Hvidovre, Denmark, native collected six points (4G, 2A) in 40 games with the Redhawks. Petersen comes to Penticton with an extensive international resume as well.
Petersen played for Denmark last month at the 2025 IIHF Under 20 World Championship Division l Group A in Slovenia. Petersen had two points (1G, 1A) in five games, helping Denmark win the tournament and earn promotion to the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship in Minnesota next December. Petersen has also played for Denmark at the Under 18 and Under 16 levels.
Steve Ellis, Associate Editor & Prospect Analyst of Daily Faceoff, has covered Petersen in several international tournaments and says he a responsible, two-way forward. “Petersen’s 6-foot-4 frame is noticeable from the get-go,” began Ellis. “He’s mostly a defensive forward, but he’s a good one at that. He’s always moving and trying to take space away.”
Petersen arrives in Penticton this weekend and will make his Vees debut on January 31st. With his addition, the Vees’ roster now sits at 25: three goalies, nine defencemen, and 13 forwards.
The Vees are back in action this weekend when they travel to Alberta to face the Brooks Bandits and Blackfalds Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday respectively. Fans can watch both games on FloHockey TV, and on radio via Bounce 800 AM.
