Man found dead during Coney Island robbery investigation: NYPD
CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A man was found dead while police officers responded to a robbery in Brooklyn on Tuesday, according to the NYPD.
Officers were called to the intersection of West 5th Street and Neptune Avenue on Coney Island around 6:15 p.m., police said. They discovered Michael Shelonchik, 53, unconscious and unresponsive behind the rear of a vehicle, according to authorities.
He was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
No arrests have been made and an investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to authorities. The medical examiner is also looking into the cause of death.
Police have not revealed any information regarding the robbery.
