Ridgewood is the neighborhood to watch in NYC this year: Streeteasy
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – For the second year in a row, Ridgewood is the neighborhood to watch in New York City because of its growing popularity and jumping prices, according to StreetEasy.
In Ridgewood, the median asking rent increased 8.3% hitting $3,250 in 2024, and the median asking price for sales jumped 8.4% to reach $1.295 million. StreetEasy searches for Ridgewood homes increased by 13.2%.
The neighborhood has gained popularity as an alternative to Bushwick, which has a median asking rent price of $3,327, according to StreetEasy.
In Greenwood, which takes the No. 2 spot on the list, searches jumped by 9% while asking rent and sale prices dropped by as much as 3.2%.
“As New Yorkers increasingly look across the East River for housing, Brooklyn and Queens will emerge as dominant markets in New York City in 2025,” said Kenny Lee, an economist with StreetEasy.
Six of the top 10 most searched neighborhoods in New York City were in Brooklyn in 2024, and three in Queens.
Each year, StreetEasy releases its list of neighborhoods based on what areas renters and buyers searched for most.
Buyers and renters are prioritizing amenities, pushing demand to places where new developments are being built at lower prices than in Manhattan, according to StreetEasy.
