2 degree real feel on Wednesday: Here’s the real feel for the week
NEW YORK (PIX11) – Arctic air blowing in from a polar vortex has brought frigid temperatures to New York City but the wind chill is making the real feel even colder.
The real feel for Wednesday was an estimated 2 degrees, according to the New York City Office of Emergency Management. For those hoping for relief soon, forecasters say it may not come for another week.
The real feel for the rest of the week is expected to be 16 degrees on Thursday, 11 degrees on Friday and 10 degrees on Saturday, the OEM reports.
We’ll experience a slight warm-up on Sunday when the real feel rises to 20 degrees and stays in that range until Tuesday.
Real feel temperatures are often different from the actual air temperature because they take into account other weather factors such as humidity, wind chill and cloud cover, meteorologists say.
Officials from the Office of Emergency Management warn New Yorkers to limit their time outdoors amid the frigid weather. If you must go outside, residents are urged to dress warmly and allow for extra travel time to safely commute in icy conditions.
