01/22/2025: Another Subzero Start, Milder Days Ahead
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologist Kevin Appleby:
It's a frigid beginning to this Wednesday across the region with widespread temperatures well below zero. While we only see highs in the low to mid teens this afternoon, milder air gradually starts to build into the region overnight and for the end of the week.
We will, at the very least, enjoy a good bit of sunshine - it's not until later in the afternoon that more clouds will grace our skies. Winds will be light all day long.
Those late-afternoon clouds will continue to thicken tonight, keeping temperatures on the "mild" side. While still below normal, most low temperatures will have a positive sign in front of them. Temps may even rise by early Thursday morning.
It's a milder Thursday as a whole as many see afternoon highs in the low to mid 20s. There will be a light breeze, but it's a productive breeze from the south bringing in the milder air.
Temperatures trend slightly milder to round out the week. Highs will be in the 20s Friday and Saturday. Both days will feature a great deal of sunshine, but more clouds will arrive for the second half of Saturday.
Beyond Saturday, 30 degree plus high temperatures are back for a little while! We aren't looking at any major snow chances for these three days, but a few pulses of energy will swing through the region throughout this period, generating flurries/a few snow showers from time to time. How about a high of 36 on Sunday - quite balmy compared to what we're in right now!
