Applications open for Warren Co. forest restoration funding
WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Residents of Warren County can apply for assistance to restore forest damaged during the 2024 summer tornadoes. Emergency Forest Restoration Program applications must be turned in on or before February 15.
The USDA's forest restoration program helps eligible residents who own a nonindustrial private forest by removing debris, preparing sites for planting new trees, and restoring forest roads, fire lanes, fuel breaks, and erosion control structures. It also provides fencing, tree shelters, and tubes to protect from wildlife damage.
The program requires approval from state or county committees before restoration projects begin and is subject to an environmental evaluation. Warren County residents can call the Greenwich FSA office at (518) 692-9940 for more information or an application.
