WATCH: Shawnee Co. deputies save dogs stuck in frozen pond
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office shared a video of a rescue made for two dogs that had gotten stuck in the middle of a frozen pond.
On Jan. 20, the sheriff's office was called to the 5800 block of Southwest Auburn Road on a report of two dogs stuck in a pond. When deputies arrived, they used a nearby kayak to reach the dogs.
After pulling the pups from the water, the Auburn Fire Department helped by pulling the dogs and deputies back to shore, according to the Sheriff's Office.
"Sheriff Hill commends the decisiveness and quick thinking of the deputies while rescuing these dogs," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook. "We appreciate the callers for notifying the Dispatch and the teamwork that ensued."
