More sun, chilly temps, absent rain for Portland Wednesday
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Dry skies remain as Portland's rain deficit grows, mountain snow melts, and temperatures remain chilly.
Another round of sunshine and near-average temperatures are set for Portland on Wednesday afternoon. Highs will warm into the mid to upper 40s with a few 50s possible Wednesday afternoon.
Portland hasn't seen more than a trace of rain in nearly 10 days. These rain-free days are quickly helping to grow Portland's rain deficit which is closing in on 1.5" for the month so far. This January so far is now the 9th driest January on record for Portland since 1940.
The next chance for moisture comes on Friday with a few sprinkles possible around the Willamette Valley. However, little to now measurable rain is expected in Portland across the day.
The lack of moisture includes Cascade snow. The dry and sunny weather has made for comfortable ski conditions, but more snow is needed.
Temperatures are expected to gradually warm as skies turn sunny once again this weekend. This drier and average temperature trend is expected to last through the end of January.
