NFL Rumors: Mike Vrabel’s Ex-Assistant Available To Patriots
The Patriots could soon add another notable name to Mike Vrabel’s coaching staff.
New England is moving relatively quickly to build a staff out, reportedly adding Josh McDaniels, Terrell Williams and Tony Dews early in the week. Vrabel has first-hand experience working with each of those assistants, and another reportedly is hitting the open market to possibly join them.
Tennessee Titans tight ends coach Justin Outten did not sign with the team past this season and is now a free agent, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Outten, 41, was the run-game coordinator/running backs coach in Tennessee back in 2023, before moving on to coach tight ends after Vrabel was fired and Brian Callahan slid into the head coaching role. Outten previously spent stints with the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons, with the former stop being as offensive coordinator.
The Patriots could slide him into numerous roles given his experience, but the most likely option would be as tight ends coach. New England dismissed tight ends coach Bob Bicknell following last season, and reportedly already hired Dews to fill the vacant role of running backs coach.
