Two men, 21, arrested after woman found dead in London house
Neighbours today described how police swooped on Croydon flat after they heard ‘banging and shouting’ before a woman was found fatally injured at the address.
The victim, 30, was discovered at the rented property at Bensham Lane at around 7pm on Monday.
One neighbour told Metro: ‘There had been somr banging and shouting but at first we didn’t think anything of it. This is a busy main road and it’s very noisy.
‘The next thing we knew there were cops everywhere. As far as I know the people there had been in about six months. It’s rented and the people change all the time. It’s so sad. We have never had any issues there before. My heart goes out to the family.’
Another said: ‘We have lived here years, Croydon is rough but this is another level for us.’
A crime scene remains at the two storey semi detached Edwardian home.
Detectives are collecting Ring Doorbell footage as they investigate alongside forensics officers who are combing through the property for evidence.
Mohamed Mughal, 54, who lives on Bensham Lane, said: ‘We didn’t see it (the incident) but last night we just looked out and the road was all cordoned off. There were lots of police cars, lots of ambulances.’
Asked if he felt the area was unsafe, Mr Mughal said: ‘This is Croydon, isn’t it?
‘I’ve seen it down the road. I’ve seen a guy collapse right in front of us and all sorts of things.’
Ch Supt Andy Brittain said: ‘We are saddened to hear about the loss of this young woman. We are currently supporting her family while they process this shocking news.
‘I understand the impact this incident will have on the community and we are doing everything in our power to investigate the circumstances of what happened.’
