OPM’s new CIO replaced on second day of Trump administration
The new CIO at the agency is Greg Hogan, an administration official confirmed with Nextgov/FCW. His background isn’t immediately clear.
Brown took the top tech role at the agency last week. The prior CIO, Guy Cavallo, had been in the role for over four years as a career appointee, per the most recent PLUM book.
Brown is a Marine Corps veteran who had been the deputy CIO at OPM since 2021. He’s also previously held roles in the Small Business Administration, Department of Homeland Security and Federal Aviation Administration.
“I believe the next level of transformation for federal IT organizations can only happen when we prioritize people and processes,” he wrote in a recent op-ed for Nextgov/FCW.
The government’s HR agency — which Trump tried to dismantle during his first administration — is being led by Charles Ezell on an acting basis. Ezell is the agency’s branch chief for data and analytics, per his LinkedIn.
Trump’s pick to lead the agency is Scott Kupor, who’s worked at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz for over 15 years, according to his LinkedIn. Marc Andreessen co-founded that firm and has become a Trump ally, per reporting by The Washington Post.
