Board backs plan
to build new home
The Design Review Board has endorsed a proposal to construct a home at 21 Mara Vista Court.
The property owners want to demolish the 1,615-square-foot residence there and replace it with a 2,390-square-foot house and garage, according to a staff report by Samantha Bonifacio, a town planner.
Several residents sent letters to the town with concerns about privacy encroachment and construction noise.
The board held a hearing on the project on Jan. 16, motioned to approve the project and directed the planning staff to prepare a resolution to adopt at its meeting in February, Bonifacio said.

Crash injures driver
along Interstate 580
A driver suffered minor injuries Tuesday after veering off Interstate 580 and crashing into a fence and a utility pole support cable, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 7 a.m. on the westbound side of the highway, said CHP Officer Darrel Horner.
“The driver claimed to be sleepy while driving,” he said. “No drugs or alcohol were suspected to be a factor in this collision.”
Horner said the crash did not block traffic.
The crash caused a power outage in the area. Pacific Gas & Electric Co. had service restored by 8:30 a.m., said Megan McFarland, a utility representative.
