Montgomery County man pleads guilty to drug, gun charges
NELLISTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The U.S. Attorney's Office reported that Joseph Mitchell, 38, of Nelliston, pleaded guilty on January 17 to multiple charges in a drug and firearms case. Mitchell now faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.
As part of his plea, Mitchell admitted to conspiring with a partner to sell more than three-quarters of a pound of meth in August 2024. During the investigation, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Mitchell's home on September 5, 2024, resulting in the recovery of two rifles and a shotgun, which he was not legally permitted to own due to prior felony convictions.
Mitchell faces 10 years to life in prison, as well as a term of probation of at least five years and up to life. The case, investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Reiner.
