TAG Heuer Races Into 2025 With A Starting Grid of New Chronographs
As the first major watch event of the year, LVMH Watch Week offers a taste of things to come from a handful of the world’s most popular watchmakers, and usually a few surprises, too. Undeterred by a last-minute venue switch from LA to NYC, TAG Heuer showed up in fine form with a grip of covetable new models to start the year on a sporty note. Along with a pair of diamond-studded 39mm Carreras and a limited-edition Carrera chronograph tourbillon with a princely purple dial, the stars of the show were Formula 1 and Carrera chronographs that continued to bolster TAG Heuer’s credentials as the world’s leading motorsports watch brand.

Fresh off the success of last year’s “Kith Heuer” Formula 1 capsule, TAG Heuer continues to re-invigorate the Formula 1 lineup with a fresh redesign, a selection of eye-popping colours, and a new Oracle Red Bull Racing limited edition. The Formula 1 was launched in 1986, and aside from being the first watch to carry the TAG Heuer name, it was a major step forward in Swiss quartz timekeeping. This year’s new releases pay homage to that legacy while embracing a new look that reflects the materials and details of modern Formula 1 cars.
The most notable change is a new 44mm titanium case available in sandblasted or matt DLC-coated metal, whose aerodynamic lines are said to be inspired by the angular noses of F1 cars. The tachymetre scale bezel likewise draws inspiration from the pit lane, with micro-perforations around the outer edge that reference high-performance brake discs. In addition to aesthetic flourishes including racy pops of blue, red, and lime green, the case profile and lug-to-lug distance have been tweaked for improved comfort.
The halo piece is a TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Oracle Red Bull Racing collab, the eighth collaborative creation since the partnership began in 2016. In addition to a grade-2 titanium case, a tachymeter bezel with a forged carbon insert, and a blue opaline dial with a checkered flag pattern, the watch is liveried using the same Pantone hues found on the team’s championship-winning cars.

Five years into the partnership between TAG Heuer and Porsche, this new limited edition suggests there’s plenty of gas left in the tank. The latest addition to the series is a pair of timepieces inspired by historic Heuer dashboard timers used by competitors in the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally, one of the most prestigious events in the world of classic motorsport. Available in steel (limited to 911 pieces) and 18K 3N yellow gold (limited to 11 pieces), the watches pay homage to the Porsche 911 “147” that earned its place in history by finishing fifth overall in the 1965 event. Fifth place may not sound like much of an accomplishment, but considering just 22 out of 237 starters completed the race, which was marked by snowy conditions and poor visibility, it was an important milestone for both Porsche’s motorsports cred and the 911 itself.
As such, the dials of the two new limited editions are inspired by the Heuer Rally Master dashboard timer that Porsche’s factory drivers used to navigate the course, with subtle vintage details that will appeal to anyone who fantasizes about running a vintage 911 on a twisty mountain road. Both watches are presented in a lacquered wooden box in the same ruby red hue as the original Porsche 911 “147,” which includes a scale model replica of the car in full Monte Carlo livery.
