Rare Chanel Sneakers, Nike Air Mags Among Shoe Grails in Nigo and Pharrell Williams’ New Joopiter Auction
Pharrell Williams and longtime friend and collaborator Nigo are gearing up to auction off some of their ultimate grails.
Dubbed “Nigo Knows, and Pharrell Knows Too,” the auction – ran by Williams’ founded company Joopiter – celebrates the duo’s creative history through iconic and rare items from their personal archives.
Items from the auctions were first revealed on Tuesday night within the set of the Louis Vuitton men’s fall/winter 2025 runway show in Paris, which featured a new collaboration between Williams, the Louis Vuitton men’s creative director, and Nigo.
Among the many items are some rare footwear finds. In Nigo’s offering are a pair of the rare Chanel x Pharrell sneakers. The shoes showcase prints of hand-drawn designs, featuring empowering phrases such as “Women will save the world” and “Women should have sole (soul) control.” Nigo acquired the Chanel x Pharrell collaboration collection upon its launch, almost in entirety.
As for Williams’, his footwear offering includes a deadstock pair of 2011 Nike Air Mag “Back to the Future” sneakers, a pair of NIKE N.E.R.D. Pharrell SB Dunk Highs, a pair of Louis Vuitton Damier pony hair boots, a pair of A Bathing Ape x Pharrell Williams Metallic Road Sta sneakers, a pair of Nike x Supreme SB Dunk Low Pro in the “Black Cement” colorway, a pair of Timberland x Pharrell customized boots, a pair of Adidas x Pharrell customized Stan Smith sneakers, two pairs of the Adidas x Pharrell Williams Human Race NMD sample sneakers, and a pair of Nike x Danny Kass Zoom Force 1 snowboarding boots.
Other highlights in the auction include the Adidas x Pharrell Williams reflective short suit worn to the 2015 Grammy Awards and a World’s End by Vivienne Westwood brown mountain hat Williams notably wore.
In a statement on Tuesday, Williams dubbed Nigo the “ultimate archivist.”
“The first time I saw his archive in Tokyo years ago it blew my mind, it felt like I was walking into a time capsule,” Williams said. “It continues to be a privilege to call him my friend for nearly 25 years, and he’s also a mentor, genius, and incredible collaborator. I’m very grateful we’re here in Paris together through Louis Vuitton and Joopiter, it’s a dream.”
“Pharrell and I are both creators but at the same time, we are also consumers,” Nigo added. “In some ways, this auction is a conversation from consumer to consumer. It’s an honor to be working together with Pharrell on this and so many other projects over the years and many more in the future.”
“Nigo Knows, and Pharrell Knows Too” will be open for global bidding at Joopiter.com from Jan. 24 to Feb. 5.
