The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, January 22, 2025
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a major winter storm moves off the coast tomorrow, there
can be a little snow and ice to start in the Southeast. From
Texas to the Carolinas, despite dry weather, snow and ice on
the ground can lead to difficult travel, though some
improvement is expected in the afternoon. Lake-effect snow
showers will wind down in the Great Lakes states, while a
quick burst of snow moves through the Midwest. Elsewhere, it
will be dry. East of the Mississippi River, it will remain
very cold with temperatures 15-25 degrees Fahrenheit below
average. In Southern California, a brief break from the
Santa Ana winds will come to an end as a breeze picks up
overnight. Gusty winds combined with very dry brush and low
humidity will lead to an extreme fire danger. In the
northern Plains, it will be windy, but turning less cold.
