CapMetro closes area Pickup zones due to wintry weather
AUSTIN (KXAN) — After a delayed start to service operations Tuesday morning, CapMetro confirmed two Pickup zones won't be operating today due to the inclement weather.
Lago Vista's Pickup zone is closed Tuesday amid "deteriorating road conditions" in the community. The Manor zone is also closed after the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (which runs the service) suspended its operations Tuesday, CapMetro confirmed in an email.
The transit authority launched at 10 a.m. limited rides for its bus, Pickup and Access services. CapMetro's MetroRail will not be running Tuesday amid the wintry weather conditions, along with suspensions to CapMetro's UT shuttles, Flyer, Express and Night Owl services.
The agency also flagged "challenging road conditions" on some smaller secondary roads than the main thoroughfares. CapMetro is asking passengers to try to reach the main roads for bus pickup when possible.
"The agency expects impacts to roadways throughout the day and encourages customers to stay home if able," CapMetro said in the announcement. "Service will be suspended early at 9 p.m. on Jan. 21, and customers are urged to take their last trips by that time."
CapMetro isn't the only agency facing disruptions due to the weather. Here's a full breakdown of other impacts.
