Alternate Side Parking suspended in NYC: Here’s when and why
NEW YORK (PIX11) — Some New Yorkers can sleep just a little longer on Wednesday. The New York City Department of Transportation suspended Alternate Side Parking to facilitate weather operations.
When Alternate Side Parking is suspended, drivers do not have to move their car for street cleaning and will not receive a ticket.
Payment at parking meters will remain in effect throughout the city, according to the DOT.
Parts of New York City received more than 3 inches of snow on Monday. The snowstorm was followed by a blast of Arctic air that sent temperatures plummeting into the teens.
The overnight low is expected to bottom out around 12 degrees. Wednesday's high temperature will be around 20 degrees, with wind chills making it feel between 5 and 15 degrees.
