Guilderland Public Library offering Dungeons & Dragons starter kits
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Roll for initiative! The Guilderland Public Library (GPL) is offering its patrons pre-bundled Dungeons & Dragons starter kits with everything you need to begin adventuring.
Dungeons & Dragons is renowned as the king of fantasy tabletop role-playing games. The pastime has a little something for everyone; from storytelling and acting out characters using "theater of the mind", to puzzling riddles and sorcery-infused combat against dungeon-dwelling monsters, often represented by painted miniatures.
GPL is offering two bundles to take home and keep: the Dungeon Master's Kit, with supplies to get you playing with friends, and the Youth D&D Kit, which includes a simplified version of the rules, perfect for introducing kids to the iconic game. Patrons can register for a kit by stopping by the GPL's adult reference desk through January 30.
The library is open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Kits that go unclaimed by January 30 will be handed out on a first-come-first-serve basis between February 10 and February 14.
The Guilderland Public Library is located at 2228 Western Avenue. Anyone with questions can call the GPL at (518)456-2400.
