Zepeda vs Farmer rematch in the works for Mar. 29 in Cancun
William Zepeda and Tevin Farmer are reportedly finalizing a twelve-round rematch of last November’s split decision in Riyadh
Lightweight contender William “El Camaron” Zepeda is nearly set to run back the toughest fight of his career, as Salvador Rodriguez reports that he’s finalizing a March 29th rematch with Tevin Farmer in Cancun.
Minimumweight champion Yokasta Valle is also in talks to appear on the show, which would mark Zepeda’s (32-0, 27 KO) first bout in his native Mexico since February 2022.
Farmer (33-7-1, 8 KO), nearly five years removed from his super featherweight title reign and fighting on the heels of a decision loss to Raymond Muratalla, floored Zepeda in the fourth round last November and gave him everything he could handle in what was supposed to be a tune-up bout for Zepeda’s shot at Shakur Stevenson. Though Zepeda narrowly escaped with a split decision, he damaged his left hand in the process, leaving Stevenson to battle Floyd Schofield next month.
You’d think after Stevenson and Zepeda each suffered hand injuries that their handlers would minimize risk, but here we are.
The key difference this time around is that, per Rodriguez, it’ll be a twelve-rounder for the interim belt. Though that favors Zepeda and his freakish cardio on paper, Farmer’s flipped the script before.
