Cop's phone overwhelmed with DOJ messages about MAGA rioters who attacked him going free
The Department of Justice offers an automated call sent to those who participated in the trial of the Jan. 6 defendants. Among those was former U.S. Capitol Police Officer Aquilino A. Gonell, whose phone exploded as those who tried to kill him were released from prison.
"Sergeant Gonell sent me this picture," said former officer Harry Dunn in a post on Blue Sky with a screen capture. "This is his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of "Justice" notification saying, 'The defendant you testified against is being released from the Department of Corrections.' Each defendant assaulted him."
Gonell was one of those who also received a pardon on Monday from outgoing President Joe Biden. Many former officers who testified against Jan. 6 attackers and at the congressional hearing have been targeted by supporters of Trump. After spending over a year promising revenge and retribution, many were scared of what Trump would do to them, even if they didn't commit any crimes.

"On January 6, 2021, I was just doing my job and fulfilling my oath to defend this country," Gonell said in a statement about the pardon. "American citizens attacked the U.S. Capitol, injuring me and my colleagues. We protected all elected officials, regardless of their political party. I, an immigrant, nearly lost my life defending the Constitution and the rule of law in the building where President Trump will be inaugurated.
"Thank you to President Biden for upholding our nation's democracy for your years of service to this country, and — in your final moments as Commander-in-Chief — issuing preemptive pardons for me and other loyal Americans. I did not seek a pardon, and I did nothing wrong. My family and I are grateful for your empathy and your leadership."
Monday night, Trump pardoned over 1500 attackers, some of whom were convicted of seditious conspiracy.
