Noel Fielding confirms future on Great British Bake Off after mystery illness led to show axe
NOEL Fielding has confirmed his future on The Great British Bake Off after his comedy series was axed.
The actor and comedian had sparked doubt over his return to the TV tent after his Apple TV+ show was ditched.
The 51-year-old will return to front the competition alongside Alison Hammond[/caption]We exclusively revealed how the second series of The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin was cancelled during production due to a “health matter”.
Now Noel, 51, has confirmed he will not step away from Bake Off and will film the upcoming series.
A spokesperson for the star told Deadline: “There has been absolutely no discussion about Noel stepping down from Bake Off.”
They continued: “We have been in contact with Channel 4 and Love Productions throughout all the speculation and his ‘stepping down’ has never been part of that dialogue.
“We can confirm he will be returning to co-host the next series of Bake Off.”
Sources previously told The Sun how C4 execs had drawn up a contingency plan should Noel decide to step away from the baking competition.
Work on the baking contest is due to start within weeks and a filming date has been set for April.
Noel has presented Bake Off since it moved to Channel 4 in 2017.
He first hosted alongside Sandi Toksvig before she left and was replaced by comedian Matt Lucas.
Matt, 50, quit the programme in 2023 and This Morning’s Alison Hammond took over his duties for the most recent series.
Noel failed to turn up to continue filming The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin after the Christmas break, despite being a co-writer and executive producer.
He also played the lead role of the legendary highwayman.
His furious co-stars and crew are now said to be plotting legal action after his no-show – with the actor said to be in France.
