Futuristic theme park to open huge new water ride that’s ‘more like a rollercoaster’
ONE of France’s most popular theme parks is set to open a brand-new attraction for 2025 – here’s everything we know so far.
Located north of Poitiers in western France, Futuroscope bills itself as a “future-themed amusement park”.

Futuroscope is set to expand its offering later this year, when Mission Bermuda, a new aquatic attraction, opens to the public.
Mission Bermuda is a new water ride that will replace Jardin des Énergies – a former walking trail on a pond that was designed to raise awareness on energy issues.
Park-goers will board boats, which are attached to submerged rails.
The boat will be able to speed up, slow down, reverse, climb ascend and descend on the rails,.
The boat ride will take explorers past various wreckages, including boats and planes before heading through the middle of the jungle along rapids.
Mission Bermuda will end with a fall of several metres, matching the thrill of a rollercoaster.
Themeparks-EU.com describe the new water ride as “the ride is not a traditional water coaster, but rather a dynamic fusion of water elements and roller coaster-style excitement”.
Until Mission Bermuda opens to the public later this year, there are plenty of other attractions at the French theme park.
For instance, there’s a rollercoaster called Destination Mars where passengers travel to the planet.
Destination Mars was named the best new rollercoaster in 2020.
Meanwhile, there’s also The Extraordinary Journey and Tornado Chasers, the world’s first Dynamic Motion Theatre.
Other bizarre rides include Dances with Robots where guests wear giant robot arms on a huge dance floor, as well as 4D cinemas and live shows.
Last year, the French theme park opened Aquascope water park.
The £48million water park has a number of unique features, including eight massive slides, like Matrix, which has a four-person inflatable raft that travels through whirlpools on its course from top to bottom.
It’s also home to Europe‘s first aquatic cinema, which promises to “take you to the heart of the wave” and let you “swim in a fantastic, colourful world of video mapping”.
Entry tickets to the indoor water park start from €44.80 (£37.87) per person, with advance booking required.
Set in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, Futuroscope is a 20-minute drive from neighbouring Poitiers.
Futuroscope has a 4/5 star rating on TripAdvisor from over 16,000 reviews, with one person writing: “We loved this park and we went on nearly all the rides in one day”.
Another person added: “Outstanding value, great fun with something for all of us”.
Ryanair operates direct flights from London Stansted to Poitiers, with one-way fares starting from £16.
