Sports briefs: Branson wins MLK Day game against Piedmont
NJ Gray and Chase Robertson combined to score 42 points as The Branson School boys basketball team secured a 73-64 victory against Piedmont on Monday night.
Gray scored 22 points and pulled down eight rebounds while Robertson scored 20 points to go with eight assists and six rebounds. Tyler Wells scored 14 points for the Bulls (11-9), who have a road game against Tam on Tuesday night.
- Pele Love and Chase Addleman scored in double digits as Terra Linda fell to Pitman (Turlock) 58-49 on Monday. Pitman improved to 19-1 with the victory. Love scored 12 points and Addleman added 11 for the Trojans (13-6), who travel to face Archie Williams on Tuesday.
- Redwood dropped a 61-53 game against Monterey Trail on Monday night. The Giants (12-5) head to Marin Catholic in a showdown between 3-0 MCAL teams on Tuesday night.
Girls basketball
Parker Conrad led all scorers with 16 points as Archie Williams avenged an early-season loss with a 44-30 win against Sonoma Valley on Monday night. Archie Williams (10-7) scored 20 points in the second quarter and held Sonoma Valley to 11 first-half points. Reese Patton scored 14 points and Kaeley Sullivan controlled the paint for the Peregrine Falcons, who host Terra Linda on Tuesday.
