One of Them Days Had One of Those Good Weekends
Thankfully, something positive came out of the past few days: One of Them Days had a great opening weekend at the box office. Deadline reports that the buddy comedy starring Keke Palmer and SZA earned $14 million over the four-day weekend; the film reported had a budget of $14 million, technically breaking even with just the domestic market. The film follows Palmer and SZA as roommates and besties Dreux and Alyssa, who are determined through their literal blood, sweat, and tears to pay their rent by any means necessary. One of Them Days also beat out another debut this weekend. Universal’s Wolf Man earned $12 million over the four days with less favorable reviews. While comedy didn’t open at no. 1 — Mufusa narrowly took that title for a second weekend in a row — its opening box office and critic reviews show the studios that people are itching for a good laugh, and you don’t need to sell plasma or snag a payday loan to get the job done.
