I thought I was glowing in my pregnancy until my NOSE popped at week 25 – people say it looks like I’ve used a filter
A WOMAN has left people stunned after revealing the unusual way her body has changed during pregnancy.
She has been documenting her journey to becoming a first-time mother in videos on her social media pages.
She hung her head as she showed her changed face[/caption] People even said they thought she was using a filter to make her nose look bigger[/caption]And one of the most exciting parts of the process is undoubtedly watching the baby bump get bigger on a weekly basis.
But she admitted she had no idea there would be another area of her body that popped when she hit week 25 of the pregnancy.
“POV: you thought you were glowing in your pregnancy til you and your NOSE arrived the 25th week,” she wrote over one video of herself showing how much her face had changed.
“Not gonna lie, I miss the old me!” she captioned the clip, which has had almost seven million views on TikTok.
And the comments section was almost immediately filled with people expressing their shock at the woman’s transformation.
“Your face look like a filter!” one gasped.
“Pregnancy nose is the worst,” another added.
“I had it with my second baby. The old wives’ tale of a girl taking your beauty was true for me.”
“Mine went away within an hour of birth,” a third commented.
“It only happened with my boys… it’s more common with boys but unsure why.”
“As someone with a big nose who got pregnancy nose… nearly a year post partum it’s still here,” someone else said.
“Are you serious?” the mum-to-be replied, alongside a crying emoji.
“Girl my pregnancy nose was soooo bad,” another wrote.
“My nose is already huge I want to cry just thinking of what it would look like,” someone else admitted.
“It’s okay baby it’s temporary, it will go back to normal!!!! Keep your head up queen!!!!” another reassured her.
With someone else agreeing: “When you have baby it’ll go back to normal love, you’re just swollen right now.
What is pregnancy nose?
WHAT actually is pregnancy nose?
According to Dr. Christine Greves, an OB-GYN in Orlando, Florida, many pregnant people do actually experience the phenomenon.
Speaking to TODAY.com she explained: “The underlying reason is because of the hormones that are increased in pregnancy and those hormones cause dilation in vessels, which can result in more blood flow going to certain areas — and that’s because we need it for the uterus.”
And don’t worry, although it might be weird to see yourself with a bigger nose, it’s totally harmless for most people and will usually go back to normal roughly six weeks after giving birth, she added.
“It happened to me.
“Regardless, you’re so beautiful!”
In a later video, the woman admitted she is doing her best to “embrace the changes” of pregnancy.
“Documenting my pregnancy nose because it’s part of my journey and I love being a mum,” she wrote over the top of the TikTok.
However, she has still had rude comments from people comparing her to “Papa Smurf”, or “Pinocchio”.
The phenomenon can occur due to an increased flow of estrogen in the body during pregnancy[/caption]
