Edgy comedy “Extraordinary” which stars Máiréad Tyers and Sofia Oxenham has been cancelled[/caption]The first eight episodes of season one were released January 25, 2023, and season two was released on March 6, 2024.
Season two followed Jen on her journey to uncover her powers as she enrols at the power clinic.
However, she quickly realises that discovering her power is far more challenging than she anticipated, and her personal life proves to be just as turbulent.
The season ended on a cliffhanger with Jen falling into a void, leaving fans without a resolution.
A source told the Variety: “Extraordinary will not be returning for a third season on the service.
“We’re so proud of the hilarious, award-winning series brought to life by the incredibly talented British and Irish cast and crew, our production partners at Sid Gentle Films, and the exceptional writing talent of creator Emma Moran.”
Penned by series creator Emma Moran and helmed by directors Toby MacDonald and Jennifer Sheridan, the innovative comedy offered a fresh take on navigating youth and self-discovery in a perplexing world where being ‘ordinary’ is the only certainty.
Fans were left devastated by the news as they took to a Reddit forum to share their disappointment.
One wrote: “Such bad news. One of the most creative and entertaining series of the past few years. I loved every second of it. Sad to see we won’t get a Season 3.”
Another added: “This hurts. It was sort of a comfort show. The characters being chaotic and messy but sticking together really got me.”
A third said: “I loved this show so much, I randomly came across it and binged it. I don’t think I have ever seen promotion for it. Maybe a British broadcaster can take it on at least for one more season… I need to know what that void is!”
However, Disney+ isn’t slowing down its UK original shows with The hit Jilly Cooper adaptation Rivals already confirmed for a second season.
A new drama, A Thousand Blows, will launch next month which centers around two best friends from Jamaica who fight for survival in the violent melting pot of Victorian London’s East End.
Plus, they’ve got gripping documentaries lined up about cricketer Freddie Flintoff, the beloved yet tragic Love Island host Caroline Flack, and the harrowing story of Jean Charles de Menezes.
