“We’re on the hunt for contestants eager to be part of the next big TV sensation.”
The non-broadcast pilot is set to be filmed in Manchester later this month.
Aside from stand-up comedy, viewers may also recognise John from his work on Doctor Who and A League of Their Own.
Meanwhile, The 1% Club has been a smash-hit for ITV since launching in 2022.
The programme challenges contestants to apply logic, reasoning skills and common sense – rather than general knowledge.
Presented by Lee Mack, a total of 100 contestants start off the game, answering questions put to members of the public before the show.
However, they are whittled down while competing to make it to the end.
The remaining players answer a question only 1% of the country can get right – and have a shot of winning up to £100,000.
Host Lee was previously left gobsmacked as 15 people were eliminated on the ‘easiest question’.
The first round saw the contestants asked: “What food is represented here?”, while shown images of a thermometer and a dog.
Before Lee unveiled the answer, it was revealed 15 people answered incorrectly.
Visibly surprised, the comedian remarked: “Not being rude but you have got to be kidding me!”
He added: “15? I said to the producer we can’t ask this question because no one is going to get this wrong.”
Lee shared the right answer was “hot dog”, as he told the contestants: “It’s hot dog because that means hot and that means dog.”
The 1% Club’s success led to an American version being launched last year.
Comedian and actor Patton Oswalt takes over as presenter across the pond.
The 1% Club airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
