BBC and ITV in major schedule shakeup TODAY as fan-favourite daytime hits are axed from the TV guide
THE BBC and ITV have announced major schedule shakeups today as fan-favourite daytime hits are pulled off air.
Bosses at both channels have ditched normal programming this afternoon for rolling coverage of President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The BBC has also shelved Pointless for Monday afternoon[/caption] The move is to make way for rolling coverage of Donald Trump’s inauguration[/caption]Mr Trump, 78, will have his wife Melania, 54, by his side when the ceremony kicks off at 5pm UK time.
As a result, the BBC has ditched a planned episode of The Travelling Auctioneers at 4:30pm.
Long-running quiz show Pointless with Alexander Armstrong has also been cancelled for today.
The Beeb’s coverage of the inauguration from 3:30pm and into the News at Six.
Meanwhile, over on ITV, Ben Shephard’s Tipping Point has been axed from the schedule.
Bradley Walsh’s The Chase has also met a similar fate for their coverage of Trump’s return to the White House.
ITV’s special show will run for two hours, from 4pm and also into their evening news bulletin.
The schedule change is just for one day only and all affected programmes return on Tuesday.
A ring of steel has already been thrown around the city, after two assassination attempts on Mr Trump in the run-up to November’s victory over Joe Biden.
But security teams’ jobs have been made easier by the ceremony — at 5pm UK time — being moved indoors for the first time in 40 years because of temperatures plunging as low as -12C.
Organisers said almost a quarter of a million people had been due to attend.
