KENT CUP DEFENSE OFF TO A FLYER AS DARTS WOMEN SCORE NINE TO SEE OFF ASHFORD UTD LADIES!
Match Report: Dartford FC 9-0 Ashford Utd Ladies FC Kent Women’s Cup, played on Sunday 19th January 2025.

Our first home game of 2025 was upon us and this one saw us welcome Ashford United Ladies to Princes Park in the Kent Cup. This competition proved to be successful for us last season and we headed into this season’s competition wanting more of the same.
Darts began this game very brightly and created a couple of good opportunities in the early stages and it wasn’t long before the early pressure paid off. In the 10th minute, an initial shot from Amy Russ was parried into the path of Emily Woodhouse, who fired an effort into the roof of the net to put us ahead.
We continued to create chances and it wasn’t long before we doubled our lead. In the 28th minute, a cross from Amy Russ found Shauni Griffiths in space inside the Ashford box. The Darts midfielder controlled the cross superbly and fired an unstoppable effort on goal beyond the keeper.
We extended the lead further before the half time break. In the 34th minute, great interplay between Emily Vaughan and Amy Russ put Shauni Griffiths through on goal. The Darts midfielder got on the end of the through ball and lobbed the keeper to extend our advantage. A goal of real quality from the home side!
Darts were to make it four two minutes from time. Shauni Griffiths with a fantastic cross across the six yard box that found Georgie Davis and the Darts defender made no mistake from six yards to put us four goals to the good at the midway point in this cup tie.
The second half began similarly to the first and it wasn’t long before the home side extended the lead further. In the 55th minute, a cross from Emily Woodhouse found Shauni Griffiths inside the Ashford box. The Darts midfielder with an overhead effort that looped high into the air and dropped in at the far post. A hat-trick on the day and a second hat-trick of the season for the Darts midfielder.
We extended the lead further in the 56th minute as a cross from Georgie Davis found Amy Russ free at the back post. The Darts forward rose highest of all and headed home to make it six for the home side.
The Darts continued to create chances and we made it seven midway through the half. In the 67th minute, a deflected effort on goal saw the ball fall to Emily Vaughan, who rifled home to make it seven.
The eighth goal of this cup tie came our way a couple of minutes later. In the 69th minute, the ball fell nicely to Xayla-Rae Alberts inside the Ashford box and the Darts midfielder beat the keeper with a fine finish from the edge of the box.
The final goal of the game came our way 12 minutes from time. In the 78th minute, a cross from the Darts left found Sarah Hill in the 18 yd box. The Darts forward controlled the cross superbly and fired an effort beyond the keeper to seal a fantastic performance from the home side.
