Fuming Megan McKenna slams ‘pathetic’ trolls after backlash for leaving 14 week old baby alone’ while sleep training
MEGAN McKenna has hit back at ‘perfect mums’ after she was ridiculed for ‘leaving her baby to sleep alone’.
The TV star scorned her critics and announced that she is refusing to respond to negative comments from fans.

She said that she wanted him to sleep independently so she could be more productive during the day.
“He needs to be able to go down on his own for a nap, I need to be able to do some things during the day,” she told fans.
After lots of crying, her little one eventually went to sleep – with Megan excitedly exclaiming how proud she was.
Whilst she was met with sympathetic messages of reassurance, she was also criticised for leaving him to cry.
“How do you just watch him cry? Wanting you? Wanting to hug. If you can’t get things done that’s normal with a baby under 6 months. Get help,” one wrote.
“I’m sorry but this is so sad. Over 1 I get it. But this, this right here. I don’t get why people have kids just to let them cry out at months old,” they added.
A second wrote: “You need to educate yourself about how this affects a babies brain. This is not judgement…this is experience and knowledge talking.”
“If you fully understood how this will impact his brain you’d never do it in a million years. It’s NOT self soothing. It’s realising no one is coming and SHUTTING DOWN,” they added.
They urged: “it’s a nervous system response. Seriously look into this because it is barbaric but we as a society have become so desensitised and disconnected.”
Another chimed: “Honestly cannot listen to his cry, if it feels wrong in your gut then listen to that don’t listen to well meaning family advice. The science does not back controlled crying and there’s a lot of unregulated advice around it cos it makes people money to prey on knackered parents.”
Others told Megan to “do her research” and told her that Landon will be traumatised from the process.
She was offered messages of support from other followers, with one writing: “The comments from people are insufferable there’s no such thing as a professional parent.
“Your choice is completely valid and he’s absolutely not going to be traumatised from you training him to nap without you,” they added.
One follower defended Megan and wrote: “It’s like you’ve left him to fend for himself, cook his own meals, cook yours whilst he’s at it, make his own bottles and get himself ready for bed. Wild.”
Megan replied: “Who would of thought teaching my baby to nap on his own for half an hour would cause such uproar. It’s pathetic!!! This is the next step and I’m so proud of him!
“He napped all day like this and slept SO long last night. Proof’s in the pudding really,” she added.
In a separate video, she argued that there was nothing wrong with her parenting choices.
“This is a little message to the perfect mums of Instagram and TikTok, I don’t really appreciate your nasty messages to me.
“There is nothing wrong with putting your child down to be able to self soothe.
“I would love to know what these perfect mums who contact nap on every single nap, I would love to know how their life is.
“Because Ollie plays football and he’s at training a lot. I’m on my own a lot, I don’t have the luxury of someone popping in and me passing Landon to them so they can give him a cuddle while I’m sorting myself out or putting a wash on.
She went on to say that she just needed half hours in the day to “make herself feel better”.
Her technique appeared to work for her and Landon, and she told followers that he’s now sleeping perfectly.
In the comment section she wrote: “Also not responding to any negative comments moving forward. Let’s be supportive mummys!”
She stressed how much she loves her baby but told fans: “Don’t judge until you know the full story and the full story is reflux babies are very, very needy. And sometimes you just need five minutes to yourself.”
Megan was met with support in the comment section.
One follower wrote: “You do what works best for you both there’s no rule book there’s no perfect parent it’s trial and error you’re doing amazing.”
“Ignore these people Megan you know ur own baby and are doing a wonderful job!!!” echoed a second.
The 31-year-old and footballer fiance Oliver Burke welcomed Landon in October 2024.
Just before his arrival, the couple moved to Germany.
