Grab your scarves and gloves for the next six days around Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland's early mornings over the next five days will be at or below freezing temperatures, so, get ready for some frigid mornings! Our normal low for this time in January is 36 degrees -- but Saturday's morning low at PDX got down to 32 degrees.
Now the good news is with these chilly temperatures, we are still keeping it dry. The dry weather remains through the holiday weekend and throughout the middle of next week.
The National Weather Service in Portland issued a Cold Weather Advisory for the lower elevations of Northwest Oregon and the lower elevations of Southwest Washington including the Portland metro area. That's because the feels-like temperatures will drop into the low 20s or even the teens for the Columbia River Gorge with easterly winds picking up on Monday morning.
This advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday.
As for our afternoon temperatures, Portland's highs are expected to return to the mid-40s over the next five days.
And then late in the week, temps will start to rise a bit, and that's also when we'll see a slight chance of rain showers returning to the metro area.
