Trump to visit China in first 100 days of Presidency
The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump may visit China within the first 100 days of his presidency.
The newspaper recently stated that Trump has discussed his interest in traveling to China with his advisors, aiming to strengthen relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Although a final decision has not been made, Trump has expressed his desire to make the trip within the first 100 days after his inauguration on January 20. Trump last visited China in 2017.
Ahead of his inauguration, President-elect Trump had a phone conversation with President Xi Jinping, during which he expressed his expectation that Washington and Beijing would resolve many issues.
The Wall Street Journal also noted that Trump had discussions with his advisors about his plans to visit China in the hopes of strengthening ties with President Xi Jinping.
Trump’s visit to China in 2017, during his first year in office, marked a significant moment in his administration’s foreign policy. On Friday, Trump and Xi spoke on the phone, discussing peace and security efforts, trade, and the TikTok app. After the call, Trump stated that both leaders intended to do everything possible to make the world a more peaceful and secure place.
The potential trip to China is a key early step in Trump’s foreign policy strategy as President. It signals a desire to maintain and possibly enhance diplomatic ties with China, focusing on resolving issues such as trade and security concerns. The visit could be a pivotal moment in U.S.-China relations during Trump’s presidency.
