Mum of woman, 20, who boasted about stabbing trans teen 14 times at roller disco insists daughter is ‘not ringleader’
THE mum of a woman who bragged about stabbing a transgender teen 14 times insisted her daughter is “not a ringleader”.
Summer Betts-Ramsey, 20, repeatedly knifed her victim in a vicious ambush last year in a car park near Harrow Leisure Centre, north west London.

They lay in wait for their victim at a bus stop all dressed in black with their hoods up and faces covered.
The teen was led to a nearby car park and “immediately attacked”.
The brave victim has since given police permission to release disturbing CCTV footage of the assault.
It showed the vile thugs brutally kicking, punching and stamping on her while spewing disgusting transphobic slurs.
The court heard after the attack, Betts-Ramsey posted footage of the assault with laughing emojis, boasting to friends: “I’m going jail… bro I stabbed her 12 times.”
Bradley Harris, Camron Osei, and Shiloh Hindes, all 18, also bragged about the crime online.
Their victim was rushed to hospital at around 7pm following the incident.
She was saved by a passerby who intervened and called the emergency services.
But Betts-Ramsey’s mum Linda claimed her daughter is “not a ringleader”.
“She’s not a ringleader. You don’t know the whole truth,” she told the Mail.
According to the news outlet, a friend of the mum said she told them: “I love my daughter and can’t bear to see what’s happened to her – she’s been treated worse than a murderer.
“What has come out in court looks bad but there are two sides to every story. Everyone is looking at it from one point of view.
“There was a hell of a lot that went on prior to this. There were a lot of threats.”
Linda told her friend it is “hard to understand” but claimed her daughter’s generation “deal with things in a totally different way”.
Police bodycam footage revealed the moment the vicious gang leader was arrested by cops in her home[/caption] She was led away from her home in cuffs last year[/caption] Betts-Ramsey was described by a judge as a ‘dangerous offender’[/caption]The court heard the victim was targeted after Harris learned she was transgender after they had a sexual encounter.
Unbeknownst to the victim, the sex act had been recorded and shared on Snapchat, Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC told the court.
A friend then contacted Harris to say the victim was transgender and he threatened to “stab her if she lied”, the court heard.
“Although she did not believe that Harris would use the knife, she felt intimidated and admitted that she was transgender,” Ms Heer added.
Across the next few days Harris and Betts-Ramsey planned to “beat up” the victim with the other defendants in the Snapchat group.
‘DANGEROUS OFFENDER’
Betts-Ramsey was described by a judge on Thursday as a “dangerous offender” after she carried out the “abhorrent” stabbing.
It emerged the 20-year-old had three previous convictions for seven offences including battery and robbery.
Defence lawyers told the court Betts-Ramsey had been raised in and out of care.
The court heard police had intervened in her life from around the age of seven due to domestic violence and abuse.
Betts-Ramsey was sentenced to eight and a half years in youth detention, four and half of which must be served in custody.
Harris, Osei and Hindes were each sentenced to three years in youth detention.
A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named, was given a youth rehabilitation order.
A 17-year-old girl, who also cannot be named, will be sentenced at a later date after pleading guilty to robbery and possession of cannabis.
A 16-year-old boy received an 18-month supervision order after he admitted grievous bodily harm with intent.
‘THICK SCARS’
In an impact statement read to the court, the victim said: “I now find it difficult to trust people and it has deeply affected my friendship circle.
“I feel that I have become repressed and am always in fear when leaving my house.
“My attendance at college has dropped significantly, as I am constantly in fear of being assaulted again.
“I found it extremely difficult to sleep the first few weeks after the incident occurred and was constantly having nightmares.
“At times when I close my eyes, I replay the assault in my head and visualise the knife being used on me.
“I am unable to control this and I feel at times that this is taking over my life.”
She added: “This incident has resulted in me being left with thick scars on and around my body.
“It saddens me every time I see them and I feel like I am the one living a life sentence due to them.
“I am not living a normal life and I am not sure if my life would ever be the same again.
“In the past I have experienced animosity towards me due to being transgender, but never thought that someone would have so much hatred for me and want to assault me in the way they did.”
