Discovery’s Kip&Kin is opening near Siargao’s Cloud 9 in 2027
MANILA, Philippines – Luxury resort developer Discovery World Corporation (DWC) is bringing its hotel-and-hostel brand to the Surfing Capital of the Philippines.
DWC’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Lucky Cloud 9 Resort, Inc., and its property management arm, Discovery Hospitality Corporation, are bringing Kip&Kin to Siargao. They broke ground for the project aimed mainly at millennial and Gen Z travelers last January 10, 2025 and it is expected to open doors in 2027.
“Kip&Kin is more than just a place to stay; it’s a lifestyle brand where guests can immerse themselves in the energy of Siargao’s vibrant culture and natural splendor,” DWC chairman and chief executive officer John Tiu Jr. said in a statement.
“We are excited to have Discovery Hospitality’s expertise to create and experience that captures the essence of Siargao and makes a significant contribution to the local economy,” he added.
Kip&Kin Siargao will be built on a 7,000-square meter property within DWC’s 9-hectare lot in General Luna, Siargao. It will have 34 hotel rooms, 48 hostel beds, and retail spaces, leaving enough room for future expansion within the property.

The teardrop-shaped surfing paradise ranked fourth as the most affordable tourist destination in Asia, according to travel platform Agoda’s booking data.
The island logged a 323% surge in tourist visits in 2023, recording 529,822 tourist arrivals — up from the 125,088 tourists seen in 2022. Domestic tourists made up of the majority of the visits, with about 476,074 Filipinos going to Siargao. International tourists stood at 257,900.
Siargao also drove tourism arrivals in Caraga during the Holy week in 2024.
Discovery World said the island is the perfect spot for its Kip&Kin concept, noting that it “offers the ideal setting for meaningful adventures, a community of kindred spirits, a sustainable, and engaging environment, and appreciating the charms of free-spirited life.”
The brand is designed to welcome both solo and group travelers — including those traveling as families.
Aside from Siargao, Kip&Kin will also set up shop in Vanilla Beach El Nido and San Vicente in Palawan. – Rappler.com
