Israel-Hamas сeasefire: LIVE UPDATES
The sides have agreed to a prisoner exchange amid a humanitarian truce in the deadly 15-month conflict
Israel has launched airstrikes on Gaza after Hamas failed to provide a list of hostages set for release on Sunday.
The ceasefire was scheduled to begin at 06:30 GMT, with Hamas expected to release three hostages in exchange for prisoners held in Israel.
Hamas attributed the delay in providing the list of names to “technical and field reasons.”
The Israeli military has confirmed it is continuing operations in Gaza while awaiting the names.
“According to the prime minister’s directives, the ceasefire will not take effect until Hamas fulfills its commitments,” a military spokesperson says.
Gaza’s civil defense agency reports that Israeli strikes killed at least eight people and injured more than 25.
Despite the delay in the ceasefire, thousands of Gazans took to the streets to celebrate and began returning to their homes.
