TikTok Officially Suspends Service in the United States Amid Ban - Here's What Happens Next
TikTok has officially suspended service in the United States, bringing at least a temporary interruption to people’s use of the social media app. Here’s what happens next…

If you open TikTok in the United States right now, you get the following message: “A law banning TikTok has been enacted int he U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can’t use TikTok for now. We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned!”
This comes after TikTok unsuccessfully petitioned to the Supreme Court to overturn the law.
While the highest court in the land has upheld the law, President Joe Biden signaled that his administration would not enforce the ban and would let President-Elect Donald Trump make a decision after his January 20 inauguration.
In an interview with NBC, Donald said that he was open to working with ByteDance to bring TikTok back. He recently hinted at plans to give them 90 more days to work something out.
“I think that would be, certainly, an option that we look at,” he told NBC. “The 90-day extension is something that will be most likely done, because it’s appropriate. You know, it’s appropriate. We have to look at it carefully. It’s a very big situation.”
